The US GI Large ALICE Pack with Frame is a great choice for anyone who needs a durable and reliable backpack for outdoor activities. The pack is made of water-resistant nylon that will stay dry and hold up to rough use. It has six outside front pockets with snap closures and Alice webbing drawstring closures. The pack is designed to haul large loads (up to 50 lbs.) in all types of terrain.
The ALICE pack is versatile and functional, perfect for keeping your gear protected and organized. It has no zippers to fail when you need it most and the sewing is bomb proof. The frame has been around since the Vietnam War, and soldiers and civilians everywhere have adopted this bag for multiple purposes.
The US Military ALICE pack was developed in the mid-sixties to lessen the weight soldiers had to manage while increasing comfort and mobility. The US Military used ALICE packs as their main deployment pack until 2001 when the modern MOLLE system replaced it as the main deployment pack of the U.S. Army. However, ALICE packs remain highly popular and are still used by the Navy and the Marine Corps for training.
Our military surplus stock of US GI large ALICE packs with frames are in used condition (the pictured item is very similar to inventory available), with olive drab nylon, and have NSN: 8465-01-019-8103. The main compartment has over 2200 square inches of storage space and is approcimately 22″ x 13″ x 8″ with a cinch cord closure. There are three button (close to the top) pockets that each hold 2 M16/AR15 magazines, and there are three larger outside pockets.
