Materials and Construction
This coat is made from dense 32 oz Melton wool. The fibers are interlocked and pressed together before cutting to maximize wind resistance and warmth. The result is a coat that holds its shape, sheds light moisture, and stands up to years of hard use. The dark navy color is the traditional U.S. Navy shade that looks almost black until you compare it to true black fabric.
Inside, a quilted nylon lining helps trap heat and makes the coat easy to slide on over layers. Heavy duty stitching, anchor buttons, and reinforced pocket openings keep this coat ready for daily wear.
A Brief History of the Navy Pea Coat
The U.S. Navy pea coat traces its roots back to the Royal Navy reefer jacket of the 19th century. Short, double breasted, and made from heavy wool, it was designed for sailors working aloft in the rigging. The shorter length allowed freedom of movement, while the double breasted front helped keep wind and spray out. Vertical-style pockets over the flanks let sailors warm their hands without interfering with ropes and lines.
Over time, the style proved so practical and durable that it spread across navies in Europe and was eventually adopted and refined by the U.S. Navy into the classic pea coat we know today.
Sizing Guide

Chest:
Hang your arms loosely at your sides and measure around your chest, just under the armpits. It is best to have a second person help for an accurate measurement. The coat is made to fit layers underneath, allowing you to wear a sweatshirt or sweater underneath without sizing up.
Length:
We recommend choosing a Long size if you are over 6'2" or have longer arms or a longer torso. The regular length is approximately 32". Long sizes are approximately 34".
